I recently came across the case of Derrick Jermaine Rollerson Sr. and couldn’t help but think about how deeply this impacts not just his immediate family but the entire community in Goose Creek and Charleston. It's tough to comprehend how random acts of violence can tear through the fabric of our lives.
One aspect that stood out to me is the memorial trees planted in his honor. I feel like it's such a poignant yet beautiful way to remember someone. It shows how tight-knit his community is and how much he meant to those around him. It's these small gestures that remind us all of the humanity in the midst of such a senseless tragedy.
Being involved in something like this would be my worst nightmare. For the families of both Derrick and Rashaad, I'm hoping they find the justice and closure they need. I also wonder if more awareness or community outreach in these neighborhoods might help prevent future incidents. What do you all think could be done to support communities after such incidents?
