I’ve been thinking a lot about the community gathering held last weekend in remembrance of Shanecia Ferdinand, Ladarius Rockingham, and her unborn child. It was truly moving to see so many people come together to support the family and to remember those we’ve lost. Not only did it provide comfort and solidarity for those affected, but it also gave us all a chance to reflect on the changes we need to make in our community to prevent such tragedies. Many people shared beautiful memories and stories, and it just reminded me how deeply Shanecia and Ladarius touched the lives of those around them. Their absence has left a huge void. It’s situations like these that emphasize the importance of community support, and I’m grateful we can lean on each other during these difficult times. It was mentioned that funds and resources were being gathered to offer continued support to the family, thanks to the kindness of local businesses and neighbors.
