I am shocked and saddened by this whole situation. I didn't personally know Donrell, but knew his killer for more than 10 years and quite a few of his friends and family. Does anyone know why this happened ?
I've been thinking a lot about the role that close friends and family often play in these tragic incidents. It truly speaks volumes about our need for stronger conflict resolution skills and resources in our communities. It's so troubling to think that someone Donrell trusted, even if only an acquaintance, could suddenly turn into a source of violence against him. Why are we seeing this pattern of disputes leading to such extreme outcomes? I can't even begin to imagine the lasting impact this has left on his girlfriend and young son. They’re likely carrying an unimaginable weight right now. I hope that, in light of this tragedy, efforts can be directed not only toward justice but also toward preventive measures that could save others in the future. Sending peace and strength to all who are mourning Donrell.

Ann Arbor isn't the kind of place you'd expect something like this to go down, especially in what's supposed to be the safety of your own home.
