I can't stop thinking about the strength of Jean's family and friends during this unimaginably difficult time. It’s been upsetting to see how often victims from the trans community are misgendered in media reports, and I'm truly grateful to Jean’s loved ones for stepping in to ensure his true identity was honored. It's clear from everything I've read that he was not only passionate about his work in environmental studies and his love for nature, but also about creating a supportive space for those around him. It's distressing that his story is another reminder of how much work needs to be done to protect trans lives. Sending love and support to everyone mourning Jean’s loss.
