I just can't stop thinking about the community gathering held at Edmore Marbud Park. It’s so important for officials like City Council President Mary Sheffield to step up and engage with the community in the wake of such a tragedy. While it’s crucial to address the surge in gun violence and the rise of these unauthorized block parties, I really hope that these discussions translate into tangible change. There’s a lot of hurt and anger, and healing will take time, but it's heartening to see people coming together to try and make a difference. The loss of young lives like Shanae' and Phillip is just unbearable. Sending love and strength to the families and everyone impacted. Does anyone else here feel like there are steps we, as a community, could take to help support these efforts?

I can't stop thinking about the devastating impact of these pop-up parties and how they often spiral out of control. It's terrifying that Shanae' Fletcher, who wasn't even a regular at these events, was caught in such a tragic situation. It's sad to imagine the kind of fear and chaos those young people felt when over a hundred rounds were fired. I really feel for Quincy Graham and Shanae's entire family. She seemed like a kind-hearted person who didn't deserve to be taken this early. I agree with Council President Mary Sheffield on the need for stronger community involvement; it's crucial if we want to prevent more tragedies. But, what's really hitting me is the fact that no arrests have been made yet. I hope anyone with information has the courage to speak up—it's essential for bringing justice to Shanae' and Phillip and helping their families find some peace.

Does anyone else feel really moved by Shanae' Fletcher's uncle's statements? Reading about how he described her as "the nicest little girl I ever known" just hit me hard. It's always incredibly painful when someone so young and full of life is taken from us too soon, especially in such a violent, unexpected way. She wasn't even a regular at these block parties, which makes her loss even more difficult to comprehend. It breaks my heart for her family, especially her uncle, Quincy Graham, who must be going through so much right now. I've been thinking about how we as a community can come together more effectively to address the issue of these unauthorized block parties and the violence that sometimes occurs. It seems like the gathering held by Detroit city officials is a step in the right direction, but there's so much more work to be done. We need real solutions to prevent another tragedy like this. I hope the police can quickly track down those responsible for this senseless act and bring them to justice. If anyone has more information or thoughts on what more we can do as a community to prevent such incidents in the future, I'd love to hear them. Also, sending lots of love and strength to the families of all the victims during this incredibly difficult time. ?
