Hey everyone, I’ve been following Ryan Demby's case for a while now, and one detail about the trial really stuck with me. During the sentencing, when Judge Brown mentioned that Crowder had "many opportunities to remove himself" from the situation, it really made me think about how crucial de-escalation is. It’s just so sad to realize how many lives might be spared if people knew how to step back before things got out of hand, especially with the gun violence we see today. I can't imagine the pain Ryan's family must be feeling, knowing how everything could have gone differently. It brings up a bigger conversation about the need for conflict resolution training, not just for law enforcement but for everyone. We need to find better ways of preventing these tragedies. Sending all my thoughts to Ryan’s loved ones.
