Hey everyone, I’ve been following the discussion on the tragic events at Wood Creek Apartments, and my heart goes out to Annaway Mackey’s family and friends. It's so upsetting to think about the ripple effect this has had on everyone involved. One thing I’ve been mulling over is how quickly a quiet evening can turn into chaos. It’s chilling to think of that 13-year-old boy who managed to escape and call for help. Such bravery in the face of absolute terror. I can’t imagine being thrust into that kind of situation at such a young age. I hope he’s surrounded by support and care while processing what must be an incredibly traumatic experience. It also makes me wonder about the systems in place to support children who witness such violence. Does anyone have insight into what kind of emotional and psychological support is typically provided in these instances? It seems crucial they get the help they need, especially when thrust into circumstances no child should ever face. Thanks for providing a space to reflect on this. It helps to talk through these tough topics.
