Has anyone else been thinking about the role of the Skagit County community in supporting the Van Boven family during this incredibly difficult time? It's always so heartening to see people rally around each other in the wake of such senseless violence. The support from friends, family, and even strangers through various GoFundMe campaigns really shows the strength of the bonds in these small towns. I can’t even imagine the pain Jillian’s father, Matthew, is going through right now. It's moments like these that remind us of the power of community and how important it is to come together to help those who need it. Sending all my thoughts and strength to those affected. If anyone hears of any community events or vigils happening, please share — I’m sure many of us would like to attend to show our solidarity and support.

I just can't get over how much this tragedy has impacted the community. My heart goes out to Jillian Van Boven's family and everyone else affected. I was especially touched to learn about Jillian's love for animals and her dreams of working in veterinary science. It's so devastating to think about such a bright future being cut short. It seems like she was an incredible young woman with so much passion and promise. The fact that Jillian would spend her time hiking barefoot and swimming in the river speaks volumes about her adventurous spirit and love for nature. I hope authorities are able to track down Jason Birman soon so the families can find some sense of justice and peace. If anyone has any information about his whereabouts or that truck, please reach out to law enforcement. Also, for those who can, contributing to the GoFundMe pages is a great way to support the families during this unbearable time.

I can't stop thinking about the way Jillian's friends and family must be feeling right now. It's unimaginable to lose someone so young and full of potential. What really strikes me is how much she loved both forensics and animals—such unique, passionate interests for someone her age. Becoming involved in large animal veterinary science really shows how much she cared for life in all forms. Jillian seemed like the kind of person who was going to make a difference. I hope her dreams continue to inspire those who knew her. Has there been any more talk about the reward for information on Jason Birman? His capture would at least bring a small sense of justice to Jillian’s loved ones, even though nothing can truly ease their pain. My thoughts are with everyone in Concrete and beyond who is mourning these losses.
