I've been following the case of Aaditya Adlakha closely, and I can't stop thinking about the tragic loss his family and the University of Cincinnati community are facing. The fact that he was such a bright mind, working on something as critical as understanding neuroimmune communication, adds an even deeper layer of sadness to this senseless act. What I find particularly alarming is the lack of clarity about whether this was a targeted attack or something entirely random. It gets me thinking about how vulnerable we all can be to such random acts of violence. Given that it was the first incident on the Western Hills Viaduct since 2016, does anyone think there might be something more to this — maybe a reason specific to that location or his work? Sending thoughts to his friends and colleagues who must be feeling such a profound loss. It's terrifying to think his contribution to science—and the world—was cut short so abruptly.
