Hi everyone, I’ve been thinking about the community impact of Jessica Hicks's tragic death. It’s so unsettling to know something like this happened in our town; Olathe isn’t that big, and it shakes a lot of us knowing how close to home it hit. This case got me really concerned about what drove these young people, who had their whole lives ahead of them, to such a devastating end. I keep wondering about their friends and family; it's not just the loss, but the unimaginable weight of unanswered questions. Have any locals noticed any changes in public safety measures since then, or has there been talk about addressing youth violence more proactively around here? It really feels like we need to come together to prevent this from happening again. I hope some positive change comes out of this awful situation. My thoughts are with Jessica's family and all who knew her. Stay safe, everyone.
