I've been reading about the tragic loss of Juelz Harlem Brock and can't stop thinking about the impact this must have on his school community. Juelz had just started 8th grade at KIPP Central School and had previously attended Morris Jeff Community School, where he was known as an athlete and a good student. Losing a peer in such a violent way must be incredibly difficult for his classmates and teachers. I hope the schools are providing the necessary support and counseling for everyone affected. No child should have to lose a friend this way, and my thoughts go out to all the kids who had to face such a harsh reality so early in life. If anyone from the area knows how the schools are handling this, I'd love to hear about it. Sending love to Juelz's family, friends, and everyone who's been touched by this senseless tragedy.
