I came across the news about the Colonial Terrace Apartments incident, and it genuinely shook me to hear what happened to Jashawn Neal and the young child. In particular, my heart goes out to Jashawn’s family during this incredibly difficult time. It's difficult to fathom the shock and grief they must be experiencing. I hope they have a strong support system around them. One aspect that’s been on my mind is the quick arrest of the 17-year-old suspect. It's both alarming and sad to see someone that young involved in such a serious crime. I often wonder what drives teenagers to commit such acts of violence. What failed them in terms of social support or guidance? I hope the investigation uncovers more about the motive and circumstances so this community can work towards preventing something similar from happening in the future. I’m also sending positive thoughts to the little girl involved — hoping she pulls through and finds strength despite this tragedy.
