I was thinking today about the tragic loss of Marcus K. Reid, who was sadly taken from us earlier this year. As the community reels from this senseless act, I've noticed how this case has become a rallying point for some really positive community action. It's heartening to see how people are coming together to raise awareness about the ongoing issue of gun violence that continues to plague our city. The virtual candle lighting on the National Gun Violence Memorial website has really been touching. It's clear that Marcus's impact went beyond just those who knew him personally, which says a lot about the kind of man he was. It’s so important for us to keep these conversations alive and support efforts to create safer communities for everyone. My thoughts are with Marcus’s family and friends as they continue navigating this difficult time.
