I came across the "Gloves Up, Guns Down" event in Castlewood Park, and it really got me thinking about how the community can rally in times of grief and loss. Damar Weathers' death has clearly left a mark on Lexington, and it's touching to see local groups like the Lexington Boxing Academy stepping up to try to make a difference. Using boxing as a way to channel emotions and promote peace seems like a positive step in reaching young people who might be struggling with similar issues. While nothing can bring Damar back, I hope events like these can help prevent future tragedies and serve as a reminder of the importance of resolving conflicts without resorting to violence. My heart goes out to Damar’s family and friends as they search for answers and healing. Let's hope the community keeps pushing for change and that the police find the leads they need to bring justice for Damar.

I was reading up on the devastating news about Damar Weathers in Castlewood Park, and I just can’t stop thinking about his family and friends. I can't even imagine what they're going through right now. What really got me was the initiative following the incident—"Gloves Up, Guns Down." It’s a constructive way to channel the grief and anger into something positive. The focus on teaching young people to resolve conflicts without resorting to violence is something that’s so needed, not just in Lexington but everywhere. Kudos to the Lexington Boxing Academy for stepping up and offering these kids a healthier alternative. It makes me wonder, though, what we're all missing in terms of supporting youth in vulnerable communities before events like this happen. How do we create more opportunities and safe spaces for them? My thoughts are with Damar’s loved ones and the entire community. Hoping they find justice and some semblance of peace soon.
