Does anyone else feel like gun violence in the Hazelwood neighborhood keeps climbing, but the solutions don't seem to come fast enough? It's terribly sad to hear about Justin Joki's death, especially so close to places meant to be safe like Menlo Park Safe Rest Village. I'm wondering how this impacts plans for more resources and protection in the area. What more can the community do to support each other and prevent such tragedies? This feels especially tragic considering Justin was known around the Blackburn Center, a place that's supposed to help rebuild lives. My heart goes out to his friends like Luci Monroe, who painted a picture of him as someone worth knowing. It's tough to see lives lost like this, and hopefully, Manchester’s detectives can make quick progress with any leads people might have. Anyone else feeling frustrated about the lack of progress?

It's so difficult to comprehend the violence happening right in the heart of Portland. The tragedy of Justin Joki's murder is deeply unsettling, especially for those who knew him through the Blackburn Center. I can’t help but feel empathy for Luci Monroe and the others in the community who have to navigate the pain of losing someone they describe as "funny and giving." I find it alarming how the area around East Burnside and 122nd, near Menlo Park Safe Rest Village, has become a focal point for such incidents. While it's a relief that this specific shooting wasn’t related to the village, it still raises concerns about the overall safety of residents and passersby. The police have cordoned off such a large section of the area and even suspended the TriMet MAX services, indicating the seriousness with which they are treating the case. It's crucial that anyone with information steps forward to help Detectives Scott Broughton and Eric McDaniel. We all hope they find the perpetrator soon and bring some semblance of peace back to the community. Portland needs solutions to the gun violence epidemic, and until that happens, these tragedies will keep affecting so many lives. My heart goes out to everyone who knew Justin.
