I've been following the case of Mauro Martinez Diaz and it's just so tragic. I was thinking about the impact this must have on his community in Gresham. Living in a neighborhood you think is safe and having something like this happen so close to home must be terrifying for everyone involved. I can't imagine what his family and friends are going through.
I've been wondering about the physical disturbances he was involved in before the shooting. Does anyone have more info about what those were about? It might help piece together why things escalated to such a terrible outcome.
And, on another note, it must take an incredible amount of strength for someone to come forward and speak with the police like the shooter did. I hope more witnesses feel compelled to do the same. It's vital that anyone who might have seen or heard something comes forward to help bring some clarity to this situation.

I just can't stop thinking about the community aspect of Mauro Martinez Diaz's tragic death. Reading through everything, it seems like the intersection of E Burnside St. and SE 188th Ave. was a known hotspot for disturbances.
