Has anyone else been following the lack of updates in Melody Rooks' case? It's so frustrating and deeply saddening to see another life lost to gun violence with seemingly no leads. The Hazelwood area has always felt pretty safe, at least to me, but this incident has changed how a lot of us locals feel. I can't even begin to imagine the pain her family must be enduring right now. I saw that her memory is being honored on the national gun violence memorial site, and it’s comforting to know she's being remembered, but justice still feels so far away. What could be done to help solve this case or prevent more tragedies like this from happening in our community?
Was anyone else at the vigil for Melody that took place at the park last week? I felt it was a really beautiful tribute to her, yet deeply emotional. It was moving to see the community come together, all those candles lighting up the night. You could truly feel how much Melody was loved and how her loss has impacted everyone. I didn’t know her personally, but hearing the memories shared by those who did was incredibly touching. It makes me so angry that there’s still no news about any suspects. Felt like everyone there was collectively yearning for answers and justice. If anyone has any updates or plans another gathering, please share. Melody deserves to be remembered and for her story to continue being heard. Sending strength to her family and friends during this unimaginable time.
