Orlando David 'Lando' Walker, a 30-year-old man, passed away suddenly on Sunday, July 6, 2014. In connection with his death, Kenneth Dwayne Langston, 25, of Kalamazoo, was arraigned in Kalamazoo County District Court.
The complaint against Langston alleged that on or about July 6, 2014, in the city and county of Kalamazoo, he did murder Orlando Walker. Langston faced a charge of open murder, a felony offense punishable by life in prison. A second count alleged that at the time of the murder, Langston was in possession of a firearm, specifically a pistol. This felony firearm offense carries a two-year prison sentence to be served consecutively with any sentence for the primary felony.
During his arraignment, Langston expressed his distress, stating, 'I have a heart...people really trying to put this murder on me...this shit really hurt.' Despite his plea, the judge denied bond, citing the nature and number of the charges he was facing. The possibility of bond being revisited at a later date was mentioned.
