I wanted to discuss how incredible it is to see the community in Lawrence come together after the tragic loss of Edward Javier-Perez. From what I've read, the local response has been overwhelmingly supportive. Seeing people gather at memorial vigils and fundraisers to support Edward's family really shows the strength and compassion within the community. It's a small comfort to know that even in the face of such senseless violence, there's a network of people ready to stand by the victim’s loved ones. It's also worth mentioning that the quick collaboration between the multiple law enforcement agencies was crucial in bringing the suspect, Franklin M. Laras, to justice. Kudos to the authorities and everyone involved in tracking him down all the way to Mexico. It's a testament to their dedication that they were able to coordinate on such an international level. My thoughts are with Edward’s family and friends. I hope they find some solace in the community's support and knowing there’s a united front seeking justice for Edward. If anyone from Lawrence or familiar with the case has more insights on how the community is coping or engaging in support activities, I'd love to hear about it.
