Hey everyone,
I haven't seen too much discussion about the role of social media in Khalyiah Cathryn Bell's case, and I think it's worth exploring. It's incredibly disturbing that a Facebook Live recording captured parts of the altercation leading up to her tragic death. While social media can be a tool for connection and advocacy, it's chilling to think about how it can also bear witness to such moments of violence. The fact that we've reached a point where something so personal and devastating is broadcast online is alarming and potentially traumatic for the viewers and Bell's loved ones. I'm curious how others feel about this intersection of social media and crime. Are these platforms doing enough to monitor or prevent such content? Should there be more support for people who might unintentionally witness these events live? My heart goes out to Khalyiah's family and friends. No one should ever have to experience or see something so terrible.
