Has anyone else been following the sentencing phase of Brannon Johnson's trial? I've been reading up on it, and it's so unsettling to see how the justice system sometimes struggles with cases like these. Jorge Maldonado-Vasquez's death was senseless and leaves behind a massive void for his family. I can't even imagine what his mother, Cristina, is going through, and the thought of little Adriel growing up without his dad is just devastating. Seeing Johnson convicted of a lesser charge feels like the justice for Jorge's family is bittersweet. I hope they find some solace in the fact that he will face consequences, though it might not feel like enough. What are everyone's thoughts on the verdict? How can we better support families suffering through these tragedies?
