I came across the case of De'Zia L. Bailey and felt compelled to share a few thoughts. It's absolutely devastating to see such a young life taken so abruptly. Reflecting on De'Zia's story, I'm reminded of how this senseless act of violence has affected not just her family and friends but the entire Davenport community. It’s truly a reminder of how dire the circumstances have become with youth and gun violence. It’s so touching to see the community rally around her family, offering support and acknowledging the impact she had during her short life. The memorial service on March 16th is a beautiful way to pay homage to De'Zia and provide her loved ones with some comfort during this incredibly difficult time. I also find myself thinking about how De'Zia would have made such a positive mark on the world with her vibrant spirit. My thoughts go out to her parents, Anissa and Dennis, and everyone who knew and loved De'Zia. May her memory inspire positive change and conversation about how to prevent future tragedies like this.
