I’ve been thinking a lot about how arguments between neighbors can escalate to such horrendous levels, and the case of Ramon Oseguera is a chilling example. From what I gather, fights between neighbors are rarely about what they seem on the surface. I can’t help but wonder what led to the tension between Ramon and Ruben Alvarez. Were there underlying issues, or was it a spur-of-the-moment dispute? Regardless, it’s distressing to know that a disagreement could end in such a way. Ramon was taken from his loved ones in a violent and unnecessary manner. Living in a community means disagreements will happen, but it’s devastating when conflict resolution turns into something so tragic. My thoughts are with Ramon’s family as they navigate life without him, especially on those ordinary days when his absence speaks the loudest. What can we do as a society to better manage disputes before they reach such irreversible points?
