I've been thinking a lot about the tragic case of Modesto Perez, particularly the role that public areas can play in incidents like these. The corner of 15th Avenue and Van Buren might seem like an everyday intersection to passersby, but for Modesto's friends and family, it's now tied to a moment of immense loss. It's unnerving to think about how a seemingly ordinary location can be the backdrop for such violence. Does anyone here know if there are any community efforts to improve safety in that part of Phoenix? Sometimes the community pushing for better lighting or increased patrols can make a difference. My heart goes out to those who knew Modesto. Losing someone so suddenly and senselessly is a burden no family should have to bear. Hoping for some justice and peace for them.
