It's so tragic to hear about Byron McBrine’s death. From everything I've read, he seemed like someone deeply committed to the safety and well-being of his community. It's distressing to think that he lost his life in a place he treasured since childhood. But what stood out to me in this case are the circumstances around Corrales. Having been released from a lengthy sentence just months before, it's alarming how quickly he got involved in such a serious crime again. It makes me wonder about the rehabilitation process for long-term offenders. Are we doing enough to support them in transitioning back into society in a way that prevents them from reoffending? Hearing that Corrales was arrested on drug charges before being linked to the shooting suggests he might not have had much support in avoiding old habits. I'm hopeful that with Byron's dedication to making his community safer, there might be a push to address these broader issues too, in his memory. It's truly inspiring how his family wishes to continue his legacy. My thoughts are with them during this incredibly difficult time.
