I’ve been thinking a lot about the impact of urban violence on families, especially after the tragic loss of DAndre Green. Can you imagine how his family felt that night, receiving such a devastating phone call? It must be absolutely grueling. The neighborhood around 15th and King Streets, which should be a safe place for kids to gather, has become a focal point of fear and uncertainty. I’ve heard people mention that the community in Wilmington has been feeling the weight of these incidents deeply, and it’s disheartening that solving these cases takes so long. I really hope that some kind of progress is made, not only for justice for DAndre and his family but for the entire community so they can begin to heal. It feels overwhelming to think about how we move forward when faced with such a senseless act, but maybe through unified efforts, things can start to change.
