It's so incredibly sad to think about how Shiheem's life was cut short in such a senseless way. He was just 18 with so much to look forward to—a loving family, children who needed him, and a community that clearly held him dear. I think a lot about how the choices of a few individuals can ripple out and shatter the lives of so many others. One aspect that stands out to me is the location of the incident—right between a bustling McDonald's and a Best Western in broad daylight. It makes me think about how fragile our sense of safety can be, even in everyday places. For those just going about their day near the area, it must have been shocking to witness or hear about it later. I can't help but feel for the employees and guests at those businesses who had no idea their lives were intersecting with such a tragic event. Sending thoughts to Shiheem's loved ones and hoping they find comfort and strength in each other during such an unimaginably tough time.
