It's so profoundly saddening to hear about the loss of Patricia and Laurel Johnson. This case makes me reflect on the immense pressures caregivers face, especially when they're looking after a loved one with something as devastating as Alzheimer's. It's clear Laurel doted on Pat for years, but I can't help but wonder if he had any support network beyond the hospice worker. It's so crucial for caregivers to have some form of respite and emotional support. I think too often we underestimate the toll such situations take on people. My heart really goes out to their sons and extended family. If anything, I hope this tragedy sheds more light on the need for robust support systems for families dealing with chronic illnesses.
