On November 8, 2011, in Carmel, Maine, 69-year-old Patricia Johnson was found deceased alongside her husband, 74-year-old Laurel Johnson, in their home. Authorities determined that Laurel Johnson fatally shot his wife before taking his own life. The couple was discovered by relatives after a hospice worker, who visited daily to care for Patricia, found the house locked and alerted the family. The Johnsons had been last seen alive around 7 p.m. the previous evening.
