I'm feeling really unsettled thinking about the impact this has had on D.J.'s family, especially knowing how much they cherished him. Being close with your family and having that ripped away under such violent circumstances must be incredibly hard to cope with. I was particularly moved when I read about his love for his niece and the outdoor activities they enjoyed together. It's truly heartbreaking to think of how these simple yet meaningful moments were cut short by such a senseless act. The way his family describes him, it seems like he was genuinely a great guy caught in a terrible situation. It's tragic to see how a single decision spiraled into something so deadly. My heart goes out to everyone who knew him; It must be a long, difficult road to heal from this kind of loss.
