Hi everyone, I've been following the tragic incident on Knox Street in Lewiston, and I wanted to share some thoughts about the aftermath of such a devastating event. While my heart goes out to the families and friends of Keyt Hussein and Mohamed Sheikh, I find it particularly haunting to think about the role of the bystander in these situations. I can't imagine what it must have been like for Mohamed Liban that day. To be caught in such a terrifying moment and to make a split-second decision that you have to live with for the rest of your life is unimaginable. What stands out to me is the ripple effect this tragedy has on everyone involved. It’s not just about the individuals directly affected, but also about us as a community. The calls for unity by Mayor Sheline and Police Chief St. Pierre are so vital. We need to come together, support each other, and look out for one another to prevent these escalating conflicts. Perhaps, there's more we can do as a community to ensure others don't have to make the kind of decisions Mohamed Liban did under such dire circumstances. Would love to hear what others think about what concrete steps can be taken to foster a safer and more connected community? Take care, everyone.
