A family vacation in East Glacier Park, Montana, ended in a sudden, deadly attack on the evening of July 17, 2022. David Siau, 39, was shot and killed when a vehicle driven by 37-year-old Derick Amos Madden intentionally struck the family as they walked beside a roadway. After crashing into a tree, the driver reportedly emerged armed with a shotgun and began firing. David’s 18-month-old daughter McKenzie was also killed, and David’s wife Christy sustained serious gunshot injuries.

When the shooter ran out of ammunition he allegedly attacked David’s sister, 30-year-old Christina Siau, with a knife. Christina fought back and fatally wounded her attacker. Madden, who had lived in Oklahoma and reportedly had been in a prior relationship with Christina, died at the scene.
