Dr. Jason Andrew Jones, a 53-year-old White male and a primary care physician, was shot to death on the evening of October 18, 2022. The shooting occurred in Gallatin Canyon, about 10 miles south of Gallatin Gateway, Montana. First responders arrived after a report of gunshots at about 6:45 PM and found Dr. Jones deceased from multiple gunshot wounds.

Witnesses reported seeing a woman shoot a man and flee the scene. Investigators identified the suspect as 50-year-old Kimberli Jones. She was later found dead from a self-inflicted gunshot wound near Hyalite Reservoir, and authorities believe the same firearm was used in both deaths. The incident was ruled a murder-suicide, and the community has mourned the loss of both Jason and Kimberli Jones.
