Hey everyone, I’ve been thinking a lot about the unimaginable tragedy that hit the Hillaker and Spillett families back in February 2017. My heart goes out to both families and the Preston community for enduring such a devastating loss. As I was reading more about Corbin Adrian Hillaker, I was struck by how much he lit up the lives of those around him. The fact that he had such a deep love for outdoor activities makes me think of how nature resonated with his spirit. I can’t help but feel that including elements like camo, hunting gear, and cowboy gear at his funeral was such a beautiful way to honor his memory. To me, it shows just how much his personality influenced and inspired those around him, celebrating who he was rather than solely focusing on life’s cruelty. If anyone here lives in or around Preston, it would be great to hear more about how the community has been healing and what kind of steps are being taken towards supporting families dealing with domestic violence. Even if it’s difficult, sharing stories can sometimes help prevent future tragedies. Stay strong, everyone. Hug your loved ones extra tight today.
