I've been thinking a lot about the role of peer pressure and youthful decisions in the tragedy involving Gabriel Casper. Young people often think they're invincible, and the lure of something like easy money or drugs can cloud their judgment. I can't stop wishing that Gabriel and his friends had a voice of reason with them that day, someone to steer them away from danger. It's a reminder of how crucial it is for communities and families to communicate openly about the real and terrifying risks of getting involved in drug-related activities. My heart goes out to Gabriel's family and friends who have to live with this loss. It's a wake-up call we all need to take seriously.
