I've always been fascinated by the almost eerie circumstances surrounding Stacy Arras's disappearance in Yosemite. Something that really stands out to me is the camera lens found near the treeline. Considering how thorough the search effort was, I find it so odd that nothing else was found except the lens. Could it indicate that she took it apart for some reason? Perhaps she was trying to fix something? Or could it have been dropped during a struggle?
Also, I've read that her Olympus camera was a fairly popular model back in the '80s, but no one ever reported recovering the rest of it. Really makes you wonder if someone else might have come across it and decided to keep it, not realizing its significance until later. Just a lot of what-ifs and questions about that lone piece of evidence that was so strangely left behind. Anyone have thoughts about this?
This case has always intrigued me, particularly the role of the elderly man who last saw Stacy before she vanished. I can't stop wondering, if he hadn't gotten tired, could things have turned out differently? Being 77, it's understandable that he'd want to rest, but if Stacy had someone with her the whole time, would there have been more clues left behind? It's curious how crucial his rest break could be to the mystery. Did he hear or see anything unusual from where he stopped, even though it was explained that he was tired and likely focused on resting? Maybe there was something so normal or benign that he didn't think it was worth mentioning. After all these years, if he were still around, I’d be curious what, if anything, he remembers from those fleeting moments.
