On the afternoon of Thursday, September 1, 2016, 17-year-old Kevin Anthony Jackson II was shot in the head and found on the sidewalk in the 1900 block of 16th Street SE in Southeast Washington, D.C. First responders arrived about 2:15 p.m.; Jackson was taken to a hospital and died a short time later. A pizza delivery driver was also shot nearby and taken to a hospital in critical but stable condition.
Investigators say the killing was tied to a dispute between rival neighborhood crews. A 15-year-old male was arrested at school and charged with first-degree murder while armed. According to a homicide detective, the suspect and Jackson were involved in prior altercations; video and a witness placed the suspect at the scene. Four shell casings were recovered, and a single gunshot to the head was determined to be fatal.
Anyone who knew Kevin, witnessed the shooting, or has information that could help the court case is asked to come forward.
