I’ve been following the tragic case of Kareem Barnes closely and something that’s been on my mind is the impact this must have had on the residents of the apartment building where he was found. I can't imagine the fear and unease of having something so horrific happen just outside your door. It makes me wonder about the safety protocols in place for such buildings, especially in communities that may not always have the resources for robust security. My heart goes out not only to Kareem’s family and friends but also to those living in the complex, as they must be dealing with their own trauma and questions about safety. I hope they have access to support and that measures are put in place to prevent something like this from happening again.
