Hey everyone,
I’ve been thinking a lot about that tragic accident involving Bruce Ellyson. It's so unsettling to hear how a simple oversight can have such devastating consequences, especially out in what’s supposed to be a peaceful and time-honored tradition like hunting. Bruce seemed like one of those community pillars, always giving back as a volunteer firefighter. I can only imagine how deeply his loss must be felt by his loved ones and the Cody community.
What’s got me reflecting is how unpredictable and fragile life can be. One moment you’re out there, enjoying the wild with friends, and in an instant, everything changes. This incident just seems so avoidable. It serves as a sobering reminder of the responsibility that comes with handling firearms. Saw some data showing no fatal hunting incidents in Wyoming for years before this – really hits home how unique and shocking this case is.

This community has always shown resilience, but it seems even stronger now as they rally together in remembrance of Bruce and everything he stood for.
His dedication as a volunteer firefighter really speaks volumes about his character and commitment to serving and protecting others. That's why it’s so devastating to lose someone who dedicated so much of their life to the safety of others, only to lose his own life in such a sudden, tragic manner.
Firearm safety is undeniably critical, and this incident unfortunately serves as a stark reminder to all hunters to stay vigilant and adhere to safety protocols. But beyond that, I hope the memory of Bruce's spirit encourages us to be a little more mindful and compassionate in our day-to-day lives.
