On November 9, 2014, 39-year-old Bruce Ellyson, a volunteer firefighter from Cody, Wyoming, tragically lost his life in a hunting accident. While big-game hunting with friends in the Shoshone National Forest, a .270-caliber Winchester Model 70 rifle, which had been propped against a vehicle, fell to the ground. The impact caused the rifle to discharge, sending a round into Ellyson's left thigh before lodging in his other leg.
