Hey everyone, I wanted to touch on something that often gets overlooked when discussing the tragic events surrounding Officer Clarence B. Kettles' death. It's important to remember the impact on the local community, especially in such a close-knit place like Anniston back in 1915. The loss of Officer Kettles and Officer Marion Screws was felt deeply, not just by their families and colleagues, but by the entire town. Police officers back then—and even now—weren't just enforcers of the law; they were neighbors, friends, and an integral part of the fabric of the community. Their absence would have left a void in everyday life, affecting everything from local morale to the sense of safety and camaraderie among residents. It makes us appreciate the roles these officers played, both professionally and personally, in their communities. My thoughts are with the families and descendants who continue to honor their legacy today.
