I've been reading about Officer Edward P. DeFord's case, and one thing that's really stuck with me is the context of the Gulf Coast Longshoreman's strike. It's incredible to think about how intense labor disputes were back then, to the point of violence and loss of life. I can't imagine the fear and tension that both the officers and workers must have been feeling on those lines. It's sad to see how these disputes can escalate to such tragic outcomes. Respect to Officer DeFord for his service, and it's crucial to remember the complexities behind these historical events. I wonder how these kinds of situations are handled differently today and what lessons have been learned since those difficult times.
