Has anyone else looked into the officer safety procedures back in the 70s, particularly in smaller departments like Attalla? Reading about Patrolman Starling's tragic death really got me thinking about how much training and support officers had back then compared to now. It's such a dangerous line of work, and I can’t imagine the challenges they faced without the modern resources we have today. It seems like a lot of these protocols we have now were put in place because of incidents like this one. My heart goes out to Starling’s family and all those who continue to risk their lives, but it makes me wonder how many tragedies could have been prevented with better safety measures in place back then. Anyone have insights or historical context on this?
