I recently read about Lieutenant Coy N. Smith, and it got me thinking about the incredible bravery and commitment our law enforcement officers show every day. What sticks out to me in this tragedy is how Lieutenant Smith was just doing a routine check, but he paid the ultimate price. It's a stark reminder of how even the most seemingly mundane parts of their job can turn dangerous in an instant. My thoughts are with Lieutenant Smith's family and colleagues who undoubtedly feel his absence profoundly. It's beyond difficult to lose someone this way, especially when they were just trying to keep their community safe. It’s terrifying to think of the risks these officers face while simply trying to perform their everyday duties. I hope this case might help increase awareness about the challenges and dangers officers deal with, and maybe even inspire some changes that could help better protect those who protect us. Keeping Lieutenant Smith and his brave sacrifice in my thoughts. Stay safe, everyone.
