I just learned about Deputy Billy Joe Thrower's incredible bravery during that tragic incident in 1994. It’s devastating to comprehend the dangers law enforcement officers face every day. What really struck me was his ability to still defend his colleagues even after being critically wounded himself. That kind of courage is beyond inspiring. It’s no wonder he is regarded as a hero by his community and loved ones. My heart goes out to his family—I can’t imagine the pain they went through, especially his wife and daughter who had to watch him fight so hard for nearly a year. Stories like this really highlight the sacrifices officers make to keep us safe.
