On November 1, 1994, Deputy Sheriff Billy Joe Thrower, aged 41, of the Madison County Sheriff's Office in Alabama, was involved in a fatal incident while serving commitment papers alongside two fellow officers. The suspect, anticipating their arrival, had positioned himself with binoculars and a shotgun.
