It breaks my heart to think about the impact that LaGuy and Marqez's deaths have had on their community and all their loved ones. I grew up in a small town in the South, too, so I know how tight-knit these communities can be. Seeing such young lives end abruptly is a heavy reminder of how precious life is. LaGuy's mom, LaKisha, and their whole family must be finding it incredibly difficult to cope with this tragedy. I think about the long-lasting pain and trauma their siblings and friends will carry — knowing your sibling won't be there for birthdays, family gatherings, or just dropping by unannounced. It's also so striking to see the community come together for the visitation and funeral. Even though nothing can bring them back, the community's support can be a beacon of comfort. I hope we see justice and peace for all affected. Stay strong, Allen and Thomas families. Sending love.

It's so difficult to wrap my head around the violence that took LaGuy and Marqez from us. I want to take a moment to focus on the grieving family of LaGuy, especially his mother, LaKisha, and his siblings. I can't imagine the void they must be feeling right now. Having grown up in Mobile, I know how tight-knit the community can be, and it's clear that LaGuy touched many lives during his time at Murphy High School and beyond. It’s crucial for us as a community to rally around his family, offering our support and love during such a painful time. It’s these small gestures that can sometimes help in monumental ways. If there's one thing we can take away from this tragedy, it's the importance of cherishing every moment with our loved ones. No one should have to endure this level of pain, and my heart goes out to everyone affected by such a senseless loss. Rest in peace, LaGuy and Marqez. Your memories will live on in the community and in the hearts of those who knew you.

I've been following the senseless loss of LaGuy A. Allen Jr. and Marqez Lafarion Thomas's lives, and it's just so hard to wrap my head around it all. It's something that's really affected the community, especially with these two being so young and full of potential. I remember reading about how close-knit LaGuy's family is, particularly with his mother, LaKisha, and his siblings. It's difficult to imagine the pain they're all going through. I’m curious about the role that community support played in the aftermath of this tragedy. Does anyone have any details on how folks in Mobile came together for LaGuy's family during this time? Particularly, were there fundraising efforts or community events to help lift some of the burden off his family? I know that community can sometimes be a powerful source of strength when faced with unimaginable loss.
