In the early morning hours of June 15, 2008, Barrington Lopez Scroggins, 52, was found with gunshot wounds on the 3500 block of 18th Street SE in Washington, D.C. Police arrived about 1:45 am; his injuries were fatal and he was pronounced dead at the scene. The Metropolitan Police Department classified the case as a homicide and detectives from the Homicide Branch opened an investigation.
Scroggins was a longtime resident of the former East Gate community and is survived by two children, Donnesha Q. and Barrington L. Scroggins, seven grandchildren, four brothers, and seven sisters. The family’s loss prompted the department to seek public help, offering a reward for information leading to arrest and conviction. No arrests have been announced and no suspects have been publicly identified.
If anyone knew Barrington, saw activity on 18th Street SE that night, or has information that could help resolve this cold case, please come forward to investigators.
