Hey everyone, I’ve been thinking a lot about the vigil held for Carenzo Rogers after his tragic death. It’s really distressing to see how even a moment meant for reflection and mourning was disrupted by more violence. It speaks volumes about the environment the community is struggling with. No family should have to fear for their safety while mourning a loved one. I can’t imagine the pain Carenzo’s family and friends are going through, not only because of his loss but also because of the constant threat surrounding their neighborhood. It makes me wish there was more we could do collectively to provide a safer space for people dealing with such profound grief. Has there been any movement or initiatives in Mobile to push for greater safety at community gatherings like this? It feels like a change is so necessary. Keeping Carenzo’s family in my thoughts. Stay safe, everyone.
