I’ve been diving deeper into the case of Mattie B. Wilson, and something keeps nagging at me. Why was she discharged from the hospital without her family knowing? Especially when her daughter was arranging for a nursing home placement due to her health condition. It seems there was a lack of communication somewhere along the line. Given her health issues, it's hard to comprehend how she ended up at the Restoration House homeless shelter instead. Was this a common practice, or an oversight in hospital procedure? Mattie had just suffered her second stroke, and it seems like extra care and diligent communication should have been prioritized. For her to disappear so quickly after arriving at the shelter leaves me with so many questions. Can anyone share insight into hospital discharge protocols, or has anyone heard of similar situations happening?
I’ve been following Mattie B. Wilson’s case for a while, and I can't help but feel concerned about the circumstances leading to her disappearance. It seems like such an oversight for her family not to have been informed about her discharge from the hospital, especially considering her health condition. How does a system let someone vulnerable just slip through the cracks like that? The fact that she had slurred speech and potentially memory loss makes it all the more crucial that she should’ve been in a secured and supportive environment.
It's baffling that she could vanish so quickly after arriving at the shelter. Does anyone know more about the protocol at the Restoration House back in 2008? Were there cameras or staff monitoring arrivals and departures? It's hard to imagine that nobody saw anything. This lapse, even in busy environments like shelters, makes me wonder if more could've been done to track where she went after she left to smoke. I'm hoping for any updates or insights from others who might have more knowledge about the shelter's practices or anyone who's local to Memphis and remembers this case.
